Techniques

In my practice I lean on various techniques which I've studied and trained in over the years. Each client is different and so each journey with a client may include any number of the techniques below.

Family Systemic Constellations

Training as a Family Systemic Constellations Facilitator (SCASA) has made me aware of the powerful part the “knowing field” plays when you learn to trust knowledge that already exist energetically, rather than forcing information analytically.

Through this systemic technique dynamics between inner parts of the self can be facilitated - such as the relationship between the different roles you play in life or your primal archetypes inherent to your soul; your inner child, your higher self; the soul wound lost in life. Likewise inter-dynamics between inter-personal relationships can be explored. Interestingly enough, the parts within yourself often also reflect within close inter-personal relationships.

Storytelling

Being a storyteller myself, I believe that this ancient tradition is very much needed today in the western world - living in constant stress, anxiety and panic - as a means to take a more objective stance in life. Just like yourself, facing new challenges every day, every summer the feared/powerful vikings would embark on a challenging endeavor to up their status through conquering the world. However, during winter time, they offloaded sitting around the campfire connecting to each other, reflecting on past battles, making sense, constructing fresh approaches to battle and mentally preparing for those to come, through the use of storytelling. The practice can create fresh views, innovation and a more positive outlook.

Management Coaching

Having completed my masters in management coaching at Stellenbosch Business School, I have been trained to ask the relevant questions to help you identify and reconstruct limiting thinking, get clarity and take action. Scientifically proven benefits of coaching includes - Improve work performance - 70%, Improve business management - 61%, Improve time management - 57%, Improve team effectiveness - 51%, Improve self-confidence - 80%, Improve relationships - 73%, Improve communication skills -72%, Improve work/life balance- 67% (International Coach Federation (‘ICF’) Global Coaching Client Survey).

Mindfulness and Meditation

Having trained with Gurumukh as Kundalini Yoga teacher (the yoga of awareness practiced by the ancient Indian Guru's, therefore also the yoga most focused on meditation and mindfulness,) and practicing it myself, I have learned that the benefits of mindfulness and meditation far exceeds the health benefits emphasized. Just a few of the scientifically proven benefits include Increases immune function (See here and here), Decreases Pain (see here), Decreases Inflammation at the Cellular Level (See here and here and here), Increases Positive Emotion (here and here), Decreases Depression (see here), Decreases Anxiety (see here and here and here), Decreases Stress (see here and  here), Increases social connection & emotional intelligence (see here and - by yours truly - here), Increases your focus & attention (see here and here and here and here), Improves your ability to multitask (see here), Improves your memory (see here), Improves your ability to be creative & think outside the box (see research by J. Schooler).

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

NLP is a fantastic tool to manifest what we have discovered through the coaching process. We all know how many times we have become aware of unwanted behavior patterns and still we just cannot seem to kick it off. NLP can be a powerful tool to make change last.

Actor's Improvisation Techniques

Actors need to be present and ready to engage at all times, connecting to fellow actors, have sensitivity for the current situation and know when to “improvise” when the scene is not going according to plan. Likewise, the techniques I have learned in my actor’s training can be used to create bright individuals who can think on the spot and show sensitivity and innovation in their thinking.

Psychology

My post-graduate degrees in both Psychology and Management Coaching have taught me to handle all situations with sensitivity and never make assumptions or judgments. My approach always encourages the individual to think for him/herself and create new possibilities.
